Ford : Model A 1931 FORD ROADSTER ORIGINAL HEY FORD STEEL 1932 Picture(s) and Description:

Ford

Here is your chance to own one of the few Henry Ford steel roadsters left. This car was well preserved. I got this car is Chicago a while back. It was good find. The car was missing little stuff but for the most part the car was mostly complete. Anyway for the good stuff. The car sits on a set of original 1932 rails. The frame is boxed all the way through. The car has a lot of 50's style to it. I tried to keep the car old school were possible and just updated the necessary things. The front end was chromed back in the 50's. I left it the way it was because it still looked ok and loved that old look it has. The brakes are 1940 ford drums. All the bearings and hubs are brand new. The brakes are also new from speedway motors including the shoes, springs, wheel cylinders etc.. I installed all new grease fittings on the front end and got the front end very nice. I split the orignal wishbone and it makes a huge difference. The only thing on the front end not done is the shocks. I have shocks for it and will include them with the car as well as the mounts for them. The dropped axle and buggy spring are in great shape and work good with the car. The car has all new brake lines and fuel lines run through the frame. The best part of this car is it is powered by a all original 1953 Ford Flathead. This motor is a great running motor, It was in my fathers 53' ford pickup and had no miles on it. I did update the ignition system to electronic and put a new alternator, old generator look to it by powermaster. The water pumps were replaced with new updated ones with sealed bearings and works awsome. The transmission is a 1990 chevy S-10 T-5 tranny. It has all the adapters for the flathead from cornhusker company. They have a nice setup that works great and fits perfect. It has a hydrolic clutch setup from cornhusker also that is nice. It is an ease to drive this car with a nice soft pedal for a clutch and not the old style. This transmission gives you the capability to drive on the highway at high speeds and low rpms. I get good speed out of this car and also great gas mileage. The brakes were upgraded to power brakes also. They stop on the dime everytime. The rear end is a 9 inch from a 1990 Ford Bronco. The center section is all new with a posi unit and 3.55 gears installed. The axles and bearings are brand new from curry rears. I also installed all new backing plates and brakes components form curry. The rear is the big bearing style and 11 inch brakes. Now for interior stuff. The car has new bomber seats from speedway. They are just covered with the old mexican blankets they did back in the 50's. The dash is styled with classic instruments gauges. They all work great. The only ones not hooked up are the fuel and the speedo. I have the connection for the speedo now just haven't got around to it yet. I didn't have the water proof seal plug for the tranny. I also have the fuel gauge sender but need to take the tank out and put it in. Again just no time. The Column is brand new from flaming river. It is hooked up to a 1953 Ford steering box that controls the front end. It was rebuilt and works great. There isn't much to those old boxes. It is very tight and has no, to minimal play. The wiring is new from painless wiring kits. Every wire is new and all connection were done right. There is 1950 pontiac lights in the back with the old style blue dots installed. They look cool! There is small little blinkers installed up front on each side of the radiator. They are small enough that you don't notice them until lit up. The grill is an original 1932 ford grille. The hole for the old crank start was welded over years ago. The radiator is a aluminum 4 core that lets this old flathead runs really cool. It has never over heated. It has an electric fan installed and is thermostactly controlled with temp sensors. I didn't want to ruin the look of the car with the fan but it's ones of those things you need to update to run cool. It doesn't look too bad! The gas tank is a 12 gallon tank mounted in the back where the rumble seat would of been. The battery is mounted back there as well. The body on the car was channeled 4" and looks awsome. The windshield is chopped and is a 1932 ford window and sanctions. I am 6'1 and fit in this car perfect and it is very comfortable to drive. The seats are set back so you can be a normal size and drive in comfort and look cool doing it! This car turns heads everywhere I go, people love this car. I don't want to sell it but I have a kid on the way and some of the toys have to go.There is a lot of cool things to this car. I could go on for ever going through them. I am sure I missed something so if you have any questions just ask? This car was built in the past year and every nut and bolt is brand new. All parts are brand new except for the motor and the old 50's parts. Don't drive one of those junk fiberglass fake kit cars. DRIVE THE REAL HENRY FORD STEEL ONE!!!! They are hard to find in this shape. The body is very solid with small amounts of body work done to it. There has to be some considering it was built in 1931. It was always well taken care of never got rotted like some I have seen. I took some pics but if you request any others just ask I will take some and send them to you. I check my email everyday and will respond to all questions every night. Just ask! I hope this car brings someone as much joy as it has to me. Happy bidding!!!!!
