I found this clean convertible in Salt Lake City and was surprised to learn that the 95,932 on the odometer were actual miles. A lot of high interest Detroit iron passes through my business but I don't often have anything that connects an original owner to a vehicle. Apparently, the gentleman I purchased the car from (owned it for about 20 years) bought this Gulfstream Aqua beauty from the man who bought it new and it has been in Salt Lake City its entire life. (Salt Lake City DSO-73) The original buyer and salesman were friends and in fact, were driving together recently when this former owner spotted an Aqua Torino GT convertible on the shipping dock where I had left it and he thought it looked suspiciously like the new car he took home 42 years ago. On closer inspection it turned out this was his old Torino and he had no problem confirming the mileage and the man he sold it to, the only two individuals to own the car. This 1968 Torino GT convertible has a fully restored drive train that includes all new suspension and steering components. The engine has been put together with factory precision, the C-6 automatic is rock solid and this car can be driven across town or across the country. The dual exhaust system is new, the bushings are all fresh and the undercarriage is exactly what a classic car buyer wants to see. It has a 9-inch rear axle because this Torino is one of only 785 GT convertibles built with a 390/4v engine. This powerhouse is correctly date coded (like just about everything on the car) for the vehicle's January 18, 1968 build date. The engine bay is exquisite and important optional items like power steering and power (front disc) brakes are here and accounted for. The interior is knock-out, all glass is good (including the glass convertible rear window) the power top works perfectly and like the upholstery and carpet, there's not a rip or tear to be found. Turn the key and the 325 horsepower 390 lights immediately. The C-6 automatic shifts beautifully, the power front disc brakes are strong and this Torino's road manners are confidence inspiring. You're going to love the straight body and terrific shine and although the paint is not perfect, I can promise you there's little to be ashamed of and a whole lot to brag about. From its styled steel wheels to its original chrome engine dress-up pieces, this muscular two owner 1968 S-code Ford Torino GT convertible is a rare find with rare big block power and ultra rare, ultra low original mileage. What a great way to indulge in some vintage big block, top down muscle car performance without having to mortgage the house.
