Toyota : Celica Liftback GT 1977 Toyota Celica GT original paint stock uestored Picture(s) and Description:

1977 Toyota Celica GT Lift-back Introduced to the U.S. market in 1971, the Celica model underwent on-going improvement and refinement from Toyota’s Engineering Department, and culminated in the Celica GT Lift-back, featured here, which was often called the “Japanese Mustang” due to obvious similarities in overall design. This ORIGINAL UNRESTORED Garage Kept Celica GT, with optional automatic transmission, is powered by the venerable Toyota 2.2 Liter SOHC 20R, 96h.p. engine. It features a cast iron block and aluminum head with hemispherical combustion chambers, and uses a single 2-barrel carburetor, and averages 30 mpg. In 1976, the Toyota Celica was named Motor Trend “Import Car of the Year”. The Celica GT Lift-back has gone on to become a coveted example of early Toyota styling, performance, and reliability. This particular car was prominently on long-term display in a Texas Toyota showroom until recently, and has just 22,800 original miles. This caliber of original, un-restored, survivor vintage car can very well be considered a reference tool of authenticity for future restorations of other 1977 Toyota Celica GT's. This BONE STOCK original GT not only retains the look of a new car, but the smell of a new car as well. Just ask anyone who saw the car at the Irvine California Japanese Classic show last summer. It smells new. The original tires were recently replaced for safety purposes, and the car runs and drives as you would expect of a well cared for, very low mileage, un-restored, original car. No squeaks, no rattles, just turn the key and go! If you do a Google search titled “Yellow Rose of Texas Celica”, you will find various, in-depth articles relevant to this car on different sites, and a multitude of really nice additional photos of this particular car in a gallery format. Here is the link to the "Yellow Rose" article, with permission granted from the author: http://www.toyotageek.com/toyota_tales/1977_celica_yellow_rose.htmlShould you be in search of an exceptional vintage Toyota for your collection, this car does run and drive as new, and enjoys the exercise and attention it garners, both on the road, and while parked. The car was recently driven to and from the Japanese Classic Car show in Irvine, California, for a total of approximately 140 miles round trip, without as much as a hiccup. The ONLY evidence of any rust to be found on this car is just aft of the right front wheel opening, at the bottom rocker panel area, under the factory original stripes, where it meets the decorative aluminum rocker panel strip. I have included a close-up photo of this area. The paint surface has bubbled about the size of two quarters, but remains factory original. There is no compromise to structural integrity due to this evidence of age to the original finish. Please note: the undercarriage and wheel well photos display the original thick wax type undercoating on the car, which has become dark brown from age, against the surrounding yellow paint, and this discoloring should not be confused with rust. This original undercoating throughout the undercarriage of the car is still pliable enough to dig into with your fingernail, down to the shiny factory yellow paint underneath. There is also evidence of a blend in the paint, surrounding the fuel filler door, approximately the size of a shoe-box. This apparently was done at the original dealership prior to the sale of the car when new. The camera does not show the blend, but nevertheless, it does exist and should be noted although it is not easily detected. Enjoy the photos and the internet articles on this car, and let’s keep it simple. Please contact me via “ask seller a question” should you have less than 10 positive feed-back to your name, otherwise, your bid is subject to immediate cancellation. There are no warranties on the sale of this car. To the winning bidder, I will provide photo documentation of the loading of this car onto a carrier of your choice, should you not wish to drive it home. The reserve price is quite reasonable and is to remain confidential. In fairness to those interested in the car, the auction is to run its 10 day course, and will not be ended early. ~Please~, as with all ebay collector car transactions, it is highly recommended you arrange an appointment to physically see the car, and are happy with what you see, before you place a bid. Take Care, Eric
